How will we use the information about you?
In addition to the uses described in the SWIM privacy notice, the personal information you provide on this form will be held by Cornwall Council to:
- Assess local flood risk,
- Follow up a flood report,
- Assist with recovery efforts,
- Meet the Council’s duty under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 to investigate and record details of significant flood incidents in Cornwall.
Cornwall Council will not use your personal information for marketing purposes.
Who else will we share your information with?
Information submitted may be shared with other teams in Cornwall Council (e.g. Highways, Drainage, Emergency Planning) to assist with follow up action or to seek additional information to complete a flood investigation. If the flood incident is the responsibility of one of Cornwall’s other Risk Management Organisations, the Environment Agency or South West Water, your information will be shared with them to assist with follow up action.
The data from SWIM will be periodically downloaded by Cornwall Council and held within the Council’s secure network and premises. Data held by Cornwall Council will not be processed outside of the UK. Access to your information will only be made to authorised members of staff who are required to process it for the purposes outlined in this privacy notice.
How long will you keep this information for?
Any personal information downloaded by Cornwall Council will be retained on the Council’s secure server for up to seven years to enable us to contact you should we have any queries during the Council’s next flood review cycle.
